  • Heather is a Licensed Educational Psychologist, Nationally Credentialed School Psychologist, and Education Specialist.

    With holistic psychology and education at the forefront of her approach, Heather believes to support children and adolescents is to understand the intimate, interconnected parts that make up the whole.

    Heather’s work is a blend of educational psychology and research-based holistic modalities. She provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, psychological counseling, and educational consultation services.

  • Heather has over a decade of experience in the fields of psychology and education. She has a deep understanding of the innate connection between emotions, behavior, and thinking patterns. Heather has worked in Orange County public school districts and has extensive experience with psychoeducational assessments, psychological counseling, educational consultation, and social emotional learning strategies.

    After completing an internship at Yale’s child psychiatric unit, she worked at both residential and intensive outpatient programs to support children and adolescents with eating disorders and mental health disorders. Heather is passionate about early intervention and integrative approaches to learning and overall well-being. She is also a certified trauma-informed yoga teacher. Building from a foundation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Heather integrates holistic modalities and mind-body techniques such as breathwork, mindfulness, guided imagery, somatic tapping, yoga, sound, and art to support the whole child. She collaborates with naturopathic doctors, medical professionals, and multidisciplinary school teams.

  • Heather works with clients from all over Orange County - Newport Beach, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Tustin, Anaheim, Orange, and beyond.

  • Psychoeducational assessments explore how your child thinks and learns. Assessments include a review of available records, diagnostic interview, questionnaires and ratings scales from relevant sources (parents, teachers, child), observations, and direct testing with your child. The assessment helps to identify strengths and weaknesses, learning gaps, learning disabilities, and psychological disorders related to academic learning processes. A final session will be scheduled to review results and recommendations. A copy of the report will also be provided to you.

  • Licensed Educational Psychologist’s use the Diagnostic Statistical Manual for Mental Health Disorders-Fifth Edition (DSM-5) for diagnosis of psychological disorders related to academic learning processes such as Specific Learning Disorders (reading, writing, and mathematics), Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, and other psychological disorders.

  • Similar services are available in the public school system at no cost, whether you are currently attending public or private schools. To discuss in more detail, you can schedule a free 15 minute consultation.

  • The length of time and number of sessions for educational testing will vary with each child/adolescent and is dependent on areas of concern and age. After a free consultation, a better estimate of time will be provided

 

  • At this time, I do not work directly with insurance companies. All services are paid for by the client at the time of service. Many PPO plans will cover a percentage of services out-of-network. If you choose to use your PPO out-of-network health benefits, you will be provided with a receipt for services (called a “Superbill”) that includes all information needed to submit a claim to your insurance company.

  • Rates vary based on referral concern(s) and complexity for Psychoeduactional Assessments and Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE's). Educational Advocacy is billed at $225 per 55 minutes. Educational Expert services in legal matters is billed at $275 per hour. Due to the individualized nature of this practice, a free 15 minute consultation can address rates in further detail.

  • Appointments canceled without 24 hours notice are billed the full appointment hourly rate.

  • Heather offers counseling both in person and via Telehealth through the highest standard, secure, fully confidential, HIPAA compliant video platform, Simple Practice. Assessments are conducted in-person, however, intake interviews and final review sessions can be held via Telehealth platform.
